Mondi Demonstrates New Ice Cream Cone Sleeve (Video).
It has been eyeing the ice cream market since it acquired Turkish flexible packaging manufacturer Kalenobel in July 2016. With the help of a clear plastic window, Mondi Kalenobel, an Istanbul-based company, created a custom ice cream cone sleeve that allowed consumers to see the sugar wafer cone underneath. A family-owned sugar-cone maker from Gelsenkirchen, Germany, asked if it could be done in 2016.
The only supplier to take up the challenge was Mondi Kalenobel's Sedat Inbar. “We developed and patented an ice cream cone sleeves packaging that lets ice cream lovers see the goodness inside. The first commercial product came out in May.” custom cone sleeve box
Oexmann, founded in 1926 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, ships these special sleeves halfway around the world to Auckland-based ice cream producer Fonterra Brands (New Zealand) Ltd.
The oval clear window on the cone sleeve measures 2.3 cm high by 1.8 cm wide and is made of biodegradable film. Mondi created a custom window sleeve for Oexmann's client, Fonterra, a New Zealand ice cream producer.
